Not many people look at a motorcycle and see music. While they may associate motorcycles in general with certain songs, they will not look at different motorcycles and see each individual bike put to its own soundtrack. This requires a vision given to most artists but few people. Working backwards, motorcycle airbrush artist Vince Goodeve often finds himself asking a client for a song to keep in mind while he paints that clients bike. Occasionally, he is set with the generally enviable task of painting a bike for a client who has little in the way of preconceived criteria, but I try and establish ground rules he says. So he sometimes asks, If you were to put this paint job to music, what kind of music would it be? As an artist, he may then gain some sort of creative vocabulary from which to proceed forwards even if his clients sometimes find the question a little crazy.
