Many states in the late 1960s felt the pressure from unConstitutional and illegal federal government pressure on them to enact helmet laws to protect us from ourselves. Colorado bowed to this pressure in 1969 and enacted a helmet law. Out of this attack on bikers freedoms were born many organizations across the country to fight this injustice. Bikers have always been a breed apart wanting to be left alone to enjoy their sport. Only an idiot would claim riding a motorcycle is safe. We did not need anyone telling us that our heads could get bashed in a crash. We knew the risk. Many of us also suspected that helmets could kill and maim, but uncle samnhtsa wasnt about to acknowledge this fact.
